How much does a panel upgrade cost in the Sacramento area?
Most 200 amp panel upgrades run $5,500 to $11,500 before permit and utility fees, and a 400 amp service runs $15,500 to $28,000. Replacing a Zinsco, Federal Pacific or fuse panel at the same amperage runs $3,000 to $5,400. Prices updated October 2026.
Do you charge for estimates?
Not for installs and upgrades: quotes for panels, EV chargers, generators, batteries, lighting and rewiring are free. Repair visits start with a flat diagnostic fee, and we tell you the amount when you book.
Are you a licensed contractor?
Yes. Chief Electric is a licensed California C-10 electrical contractor. Our license number appears on every quote and invoice.
