Privacy Policy
What personal information Chief Electric collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Effective date: October 18, 2026. Last updated: October 18, 2026.
1. Introduction and scope
Chief Electric ("Chief Electric," "we," "us" or "our") is a residential electrical contractor based in Rocklin, California. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through our website at chiefelectric.com (the "Website") and when you contact us or we perform electrical work for you (together with the Website, the "Services"), how we use and disclose it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.
This Privacy Policy does not cover websites or services run by others, such as lenders, equipment manufacturers, utilities and review sites, even if we link to them. Their own privacy policies apply.
2. Information you give us on the Website
We collect only the information you choose to enter in our forms. Each form asks for the following:
- Online booking: zip code, first and last name, mobile phone number, email address, type of work and the specific service, and whether the problem is urgent, plus a coupon code if you came from one. Once you enter your contact details and agree to this Privacy Policy and our Terms & Conditions, we save them as a lead so we can follow up, even if you do not finish the booking.
- Panel upgrade estimator: your answers about your home (main breaker size, panel brand, home size, equipment you plan to add and your electric utility), your name, email address and phone number, and the price range the estimator calculated for you.
- Membership callback request: the plan you are interested in, your name, email address and mobile phone number.
- Contact form: name and phone number, and optionally your email address, the topic and a message.
- Job application: name and phone number, and optionally your email address, the position and information about your experience and license status.
- Business inquiry (acquisitions): name, company name and phone number, and optionally your email address and a message.
- Private feedback: your star rating and message, and optionally your name and a phone number or email address.
With every form we also record the date and time it was sent, the page it was sent from, and that you checked the box agreeing to this Privacy Policy and our Terms & Conditions. The estimator also records the website that referred you, if your browser provides it.
Please do not enter passwords, payment card or bank details, Social Security numbers, or gate, lockbox or alarm codes in any form. We will ask for access details directly when they are needed for a scheduled visit.
3. Information from calls, visits and work we perform
When you call, text or email us, we receive your phone number or email address and the content of your message. When we perform work, we create the business records needed to quote, perform, permit, invoice and stand behind it, such as quotes and contracts, invoices and payment records, permit and inspection records, notes about the work, and photographs of the work area and equipment. If you apply for financing, the lender you choose decides your application and may tell us whether it was approved and funded.
4. Information collected automatically
Our Website does not currently use analytics tools, advertising pixels or tracking cookies, and our own code does not store information in your browser. Like any website, the servers that host it automatically receive technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the date and time. Our hosting provider uses this information to deliver and secure the Website. We do not use it to identify individual visitors.
If we add analytics or advertising tools in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy before doing so to describe them and your choices.
5. How we use personal information
We use personal information to:
- respond to your request, contact you about it, and schedule, confirm and perform work;
- prepare estimates, quotes and invoices, and follow up on an estimate you requested;
- apply for permits and inspections and coordinate with your utility when your job requires it;
- discuss and set up a membership plan you asked about;
- review job applications and contact applicants;
- read and respond to feedback and resolve problems;
- keep records of our work, honor warranties and meet our legal, licensing, tax and insurance obligations;
- keep the Website working and secure, and prevent spam, fraud and misuse; and
- for other purposes we describe when we collect the information, or with your consent.
We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you. The panel estimator is a rule-based calculator that produces a preliminary price range from your answers; it is not a quote.
6. Calls, text messages and email
When you give us your phone number or email address in a form, we use it to contact you about that request, for example to confirm an appointment, follow up on an estimate or call you back about a membership. Standard message and data rates may apply to text messages. You can tell us at any time to stop texting you by replying STOP, or to stop contacting you by any method by using the contact details in Section 15.
Our forms do not sign you up for marketing. We will not send you marketing messages unless you separately agree to receive them.
7. How we disclose personal information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising. We disclose personal information only as follows:
- Service providers that run our systems. Website form submissions are stored in our private Google account (Google Sheets, with email alerts through Gmail, and text-message alerts to our own staff phones through Twilio). Our Website hosting provider processes the technical information described in Section 4. Other providers we use to schedule, invoice, take payments or communicate with you process information on our behalf for those purposes.
- Utilities and building departments, when your job requires a permit, inspection, utility disconnect or reconnect, service change or rebate application. Permit records may be public.
- Lenders, only if you choose to apply for financing with them.
- Equipment manufacturers, to register equipment you buy from us and process warranty claims.
- Professional advisors, such as our accountants, lawyers and insurers, when needed for their services to us.
- Legal and safety reasons, when required by law or legal process, or when needed to protect the rights, property or safety of our customers, employees or others.
- Business transfers, to a buyer or successor if our business is sold, merged or reorganized, subject to this Privacy Policy.
- With your consent or at your direction.
8. Your choices and requests
You may ask us to tell you what personal information we have about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You may also ask us to stop contacting you. To make a request, email hello@chiefelectric.com or call (888) 887-6345. We will verify the request by matching the details you give us with our records, and we will respond as required by applicable law.
Some information cannot be deleted while we still need it, for example records of work we performed that we must keep for warranty, permit, tax or legal reasons. We will tell you if that applies.
California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act if it applies to our business. If you are a California resident and believe it applies, contact us and we will respond in accordance with that law.
9. Do Not Track and other signals
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal. Because our Website does not use analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking tools, there is no tracking for these signals to turn off. We do not allow third parties to collect information about your online activities over time and across websites through our Website. If that changes, we will update this section first.
10. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, using these criteria:
- Requests and estimates that do not lead to work are kept while we may still follow up with you and are then deleted.
- Records of work we perform are kept as long as needed to honor warranties and meet permit, tax, insurance, licensing and legal obligations, and to resolve any claims.
- Job applications are kept as long as required by employment law.
- Requests not to be contacted are kept so we can continue to honor them.
When we delete form submissions, we remove them from the records where we store them.
11. How we protect information
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, including sending Website forms over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and limiting access to the people who need it to serve you. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information sent over the internet. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
12. Children
Our Website and Services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and our forms are meant to be completed by adults. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Other websites
Our Website links to other websites, such as lenders, equipment manufacturers, utilities and review sites. We do not control those websites, and their own privacy policies apply when you use them.
14. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our practices or the law change. We will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date. If we make a material change, such as using personal information in a new way, we will also post a notice on our home page.
