Outage-Ready Check (backup test before fire season)

Before PSPS season, we simulate an outage and check the transfer, fuel or charge, and what you plan to run.

Signs you need it

  • Fire season is coming
  • No backup test since last year
  • New EV charger or heat pump since backup went in
  • Not sure what stays on in an outage

How the install goes

  1. Simulate an outage, time the transfer
  2. Compare what stays on with what you expected
  3. Check battery health, or generator fuel, oil and battery
  4. Written summary, with fixes if needed

What moves the price

  • Whole-home backup or essentials only
  • Generator kW, or battery kWh and unit count
  • Gas line (by a licensed plumber) and concrete pad
  • Transfer switch or gateway type, and where it mounts
  • Tying in existing solar
  • Permit fees, plus utility interconnection for batteries

Permits for backup power

Generators and batteries need a permit and inspection. Batteries add a utility interconnection application, approved at the utility's pace. We file it, line up gas work, and itemize the fees.
