Dedicated Circuits & 240V Outlets (dryer, range, RV, welder)
Big appliances need their own circuit. We add dedicated 120V and 240V lines for dryers, ranges and RV pads.
Signs your panel or wiring needs attention
- New dryer or range needs a 4-prong outlet
- Switching from gas to electric
- Window AC or space heater trips the breaker
- You want a 30 or 50 amp RV outlet
How the job goes, start to finish
- Size the circuit to the nameplate
- Run a new circuit from the panel
- Install the outlet or hardwire the appliance
- Test it under load
What moves the price
- Amperage: same as now, 200 amps, or 400 amps
- Separate meter and main, or a combined unit
- Utility rules for the mast, meter socket and service entrance
- How many circuits move or extend to the new panel
- Grounding, bonding and surge protection up to current code
- City permit fees, which vary
Permits for panel and wiring work
Panel and service work needs a permit and a city or county inspection. Meter work also needs a utility disconnect, on the utility's schedule and fees. Each fee is listed separately.

Panel and wiring questions
Can you convert a 3-prong dryer outlet to 4-prong?
Yes. It's a common job, and the appliance is safer for it.
Do I need a permit to add a circuit?
Usually. Most cities require one for new circuits.
Do you charge for the quote?
No. An electrician looks at the job in person and quotes it, free.
