Power Out in Part of the House
When half the house goes dark, it's usually a lost utility leg, a dead breaker, or a loose connection.
Signs it's more than a fluke
- Some rooms work, others don't
- Lights oddly dim or bright in some rooms
- 240V dryer or range won't heat
- A breaker feels loose or sits halfway
What we do when we get there
- Check both incoming legs to rule out the utility
- Test each dead circuit at breaker and first device
- Find the open connection, backstab to corroded lug
- Fix it and re-test the whole run
What moves the price
- One device, or wiring inside the walls
- Access: attic, crawlspace, or drywall to open and patch
- Age and type of your wiring and panel
- Whether a permit is required
- Parts: same-for-same, or upgraded to current code
Permits for repair work
Like-for-like repairs usually skip permits. Panel swaps, new circuits and inspection fixes usually need one.

Repair questions we hear a lot
Could partial power loss be the power company?
Sometimes. A dead incoming leg is the utility's fix. Inside, it's ours.
Why did half my house lose power so suddenly?
Loose connections heat up for years, then fail. Aluminum wiring and backstabbed outlets are usual suspects.
Do you charge for the visit?
Repairs start with a flat diagnostic fee, quoted when you book and waived on any repair over $500. Quotes for installs and upgrades are free.
