Wiring Repair
Damaged wire gets replaced, not taped. Every splice goes in a box.
Signs it's more than a fluke
- Rodent chew marks in the attic or crawlspace
- Bare splices with no box
- A wire nicked in a remodel
- Melted insulation at a fixture or outlet
What we do when we get there
- Find both ends of the bad run
- Replace that section in a proper junction box
- Close up nearby open splices and missing covers
- Test it and label it
What moves the price
- One device, or wiring inside the walls
- Access: attic, crawlspace, or drywall to open and patch
- Age and type of your wiring and panel
- Whether a permit is required
- Parts: same-for-same, or upgraded to current code
Permits for repair work
Like-for-like repairs usually skip permits. Panel swaps, new circuits and inspection fixes usually need one.

Repair questions we hear a lot
Can you repair one section of wire, or do I need a rewire?
One bad run is a repair. Most of the house? We quote both rewire options.
Do you work in attics and crawlspaces?
Yes. Attics and crawlspaces come with the territory.
Do you charge for the visit?
Repairs start with a flat diagnostic fee, quoted when you book and waived on any repair over $500. Quotes for installs and upgrades are free.
