Who GreenSky is
GreenSky is an Atlanta-based program that has financed home improvement projects through contractors for years. Since March 2024 it has been owned by a group of investors led by Sixth Street.
GreenSky manages the program and services the account. The loan itself is made by one of its partner banks, and the bank's name is on your loan agreement and statements.
What you get
An installment loan offered in two main styles. Fixed-rate or reduced-rate plans have equal monthly payments at one stated APR. Deferred-interest plans charge no interest during a promotional period, but only if the full balance is paid off before that period ends.
How it works with Chief Electric
- We build your written quote
- You apply with us at the visit, by phone or online
- GreenSky checks whether you prequalify and for how much; GreenSky says prequalifying does not affect your credit
- You approve the credit check and accept the loan by a text or email link
- We do the work and GreenSky pays us
- You make payments to GreenSky
Before you sign
- On a deferred-interest plan, if any balance is left when the promo ends, you owe all the interest from the start of the promo. Paying only the scheduled amount may not clear it in time.
- Your approval comes with a window to use it. Nothing is owed until the loan is used.
- The lender on your account can change between GreenSky's partner banks. Your statement always names the current one.
Paying after the job
Payments go to GreenSky, not to Chief Electric, through the GreenSky online portal, by phone or by mail. GreenSky does not accept credit cards for loan payments. The customer service number is on your statement.
